It wasn’t exactly how the Los Angeles Clippers wanted to start off 2013. The Denver Nuggets were able to break the Clippers’ winning streak, defeating them 92-78 on New Year’s Day.
The Nuggets took the Clippers off their game, playing solid defense that prevented the Clippers from getting into their fast-break routine and forced them to shoot from the outside.
The Clippers had the shots, but just could not get any shots to fall. They shot just 38.5% from the field, 17.2% from the 3-point line in particular. They were also sloppy with the ball, giving up 15 rebounds that led to 21 points for the Nuggets.
For the Clippers, Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe led the team with 12 points, and Griffin brought down 9 rebounds. DeAndre Jordan followed with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
For the Nuggets, Danilo Gallinari led the team with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Kenneth Faried followed with 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Andre Miller and Andre Iquodala each contributed 11 points.
The Clippers don’t have much time to think about tonight’s loss, as they take on the Golden State Warriors tomorrow night in an important division matchup.
