Los Angeles Clippers Visit Mark Cuban’s Big D Shark Tank

The Los Angeles Clippers have been as high as the number 1 seed in the West at one point this season. The Dallas Mavericks, who the Clippers face on Tuesday night in Dallas, have had a disappointing season. Err wait, this just in, the Dallas Mavericks are only 1.5 games behind the Lakers for teh 8th and final playoff spot. Seriously.

With only 12 games remaining for the banged up Clippers, they will not only help out their playoff seeding with a win in Big D Tuesday, but they’d be helping out the Lakers big time as well. The Lakers were beaten, thoroughly, by a better team at Oracle Arena Monday, and now have both Utah and Dallas close on their heels.

The Clippers won the first two matchups with Dallas this year, but that was before the newest season of Shark Tank returned to the airwaves. The Mavericks have been inspired by their owner’s on camera ferocity for business dealings. If it’s two things the Mavericks have learned about their team in recent weeks, its that they all want hoodie pillows, and that they think they will steal that 8th seed.

Dallas’ completely renovated roster was not working, even though OJ Mayo was flourishing in his new starting role, and Darren Collison continuing to be a dependable scorer, facilitator, and defender. It wasn’t working for the Mavericks until suddenly, it’s working. Dallas is still below .500, but they have won 7 of their last 10.

The Clippers come into the game with recent injuries in the backcourt. Eric Bledsoe returned from missing 5 games with a sore calf, Chris Paul is expected to play despite banging knees with Keith Bogans, and Chauncey Billups is supposed to be out after straining his groin. Frontcourt depth figured to be an issue for the Clippers this year, but the backcourt has been the most banged up.

Chris Paul needs to be assertive with his shot to open up the lane for Blake Griffin to operate and Matt Barnes to cut through the lane for some easy buckets. If Griffin keeps Dirk occupied on the defensive end, and makes his life difficult on the defensive end, the Clippers have  good chance in this game. But it’s hard to beat a team 3 times in a row. Even NBA players have been known to put forth extra effort when their pride is on the line.
