Baseball is meant for summer days. Even though the heroes are made in October, sunburns, beers, and your batting average are made in the summer. So a spring rainout never sits well, since baseball should be served on a warm summer night. The Dodgers have been injured and embarrassed over the last week. So after one day off and a cross country flight to Baltimore, one more day to regroup could be just what the doctor ordered.
Hyun Jin Ryu was scheduled for the start Friday night. But he will be postponed to the first game of the double header on Saturday afternoon. In the late afternoon game , 4:05PST, Josh Beckett returns to his roots in the AL East. Beckett has pitched well of late, but not gotten the support he needs from the offense. An extra day off should do the team good. Clayton Kershaw is even excited
Lookin forward to my first split doubleheader to watch tomorrow! #westcoastbestcoast

If Kershaw is representative of the rest of the team at all, this extra day could be exactly what was prescribed.
If it wasn’t hard enough finding Dodger games through your TV provider, an unplanned rainout should make it near impossible to find it now. Despite the Clippers beginning their playoff series Saturday, and the Kings and Ducks vying for the playoffs, and the Angels still playing though, both games of the doubleheader will be aired on Prime Ticket, at 10:10AM, and and 4:05PM.
Matt Kemp has had an additional day off too since he was sat down in the final game of the San Diego series. Hopefully the extra days off, and new environment in Baltimore can help jump start Kemp’s anemic start to 2013.
