UCLA Football: Nick Pasquale Killed By Moving Vehicle

The UCLA community and the entire Bruin Nation is in mourning.

Nick Pasquale, a walk-on wide receiver who saw his first action with the Bruins against Nevada, was struck by a moving vehicle and killed early Sunday morning while walking home from a friend’s house in San Clemente. He was only 20 years old.

Although the driver who hit him stopped and called 911, Pasquale couldn’t be saved as the second-year student-athlete was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bruin coach Jim Mora said, “This is a tragic loss…Nick was an outstanding young man who had a positive impact on everyone who knew him. He was a great teammate who was loved and respected by his entire team. Our thoughts are with his entire family.”

A star at San Clemente High School who helped that team reach the Southern Section Pac-5 game in 2011, Pasquale was named all-Orange County that year before walking on in Westwood.

Stated UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero, “The UCLA family lost a wonderful young man who represented the university, his team and his family well.”

Here’s KABC’s report on the tragedy:
