A Christmas Wish List For All of Los Angeles’ Sports Teams

Since Christmas is 48 hours from now as I write this…

I thought it would be a really good idea to speculate what each of the major sports teams – both in the collegiate and professional ranks – that call the Los Angeles area home may have on their wish list for this holiday season.

Let’s just get right down to it:

DODGERS: A healthy team (re: Matt Kemp) and a World Series appearance, if not an actual title, which would be their sixth in Los Angeles.

ANGELS:  A pitching staff that performed better outside of Jered Weaver and C.J. Wilson, a productive Josh Hamilton and a healthy Albert Pujols.

LAKERS:  For Kobe Bryant and all of their point guards – Steve Nash, Steve Blake, and Jordan Farmar – to get healthy, and for the team to make the playoffs as a higher than seventh seed.

CLIPPERS:  Two words: NBA Finals. Enough said.

KINGS:  Another Stanley Cup to match the one won in 2011.

DUCKS:  Another Stanley Cup to match the one won in 2007.

UCLA FOOTBALL:  For Brett Hundley to announce that he’s staying a Bruin in 2014 and for him to win the Heisman Trophy, and for the team to win the Pac-12 championship and the Rose Bowl if not be one of the four teams selected for the College Football Playoff.

USC FOOTBALL:  HUGE resurgence under new coach Steve Sarkisian, beat UCLA and Notre Dame, and – like the Bruins – to win the Pac-12 and the Rose Bowl if not make the four-team College Football Playoff.

UCLA BASKETBALL:  For their defense to perform better in Pac-12 Conference play, to win the conference title and enter the NCAA Tournament as a high seed, and make – at minimum – the Sweet Sixteen of not the Final Four.

USC BASKETBALL:  To be a legitimate contender in the Pac-12 and to upset some conference frontrunners, namely Arizona (currently the top-ranked team in the country) and UCLA.

GALAXY:  For Landon Donovan to continue to play and for the team to regain the MLS Cup.

I’m certain that these teams will be quite happy to find these wishes in their stockings.

As such, I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
