Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Steve Blake to the Golden State Warriors?

Someone get Mitch Kupchak a phone charger. As we mentioned earlier today the Lakers are in full fire sale mode and it looks like Steve Blake may be on his way out in the next couple of days.

The Golden State Warriors, who currently are in 8th place in the Western Conference, have expressed interest in Blake, who’s contract ends after the season. The Warriors are a young team that has been desperate to find a quality backup point guard since losing Jarrett Jack in the offseason to the Cleveland Cavaliers. While the Warriors are set with Stephen Curry at PG, they do need someone to run their second line. Playing Andre Iguodala for multiple minutes per game at the point is not sufficient in the deep Western Conference.

Blake has been a valuable asset to the Lakers when he’s been healthy. The Warriors would be served well by having Blake as a backup to Curry and, to be frank, the Lakers have zero use for him at this point. This is a lost season. The Lakers would do be smart to try to save a couple of million dollars by getting rid of the players with expiring contracts including Blake, Jordan Hill and Pau Gasol.

Expect to hear a lot of these rumors in the next couple days. The Lakers fire sale is coming. Needless to say, Mitch Kupchak will be a very busy man for the next couple of weeks.
