Los Angeles Clippers vs Houston Rockets Recap

As I stated in my preview, I expected Blake Griffin to have a big night and I was right. Griffin scored 23 points and had 16 rebounds leading the Clippers to a 101-93 over the Houston Rockets at Staples Center. What I didn’t expect was that Darren Collison would drop 19 points off the bench. As for DeAndre Jordan, he scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He also had four blocks. Chris Paul had 14 points and nine assists. The win gives the Clippers their third straight victory.

Dwight Howard had 23 points and 11 rebounds for Houston and James Harden added 18 who had won two straight entering the contest. They (Clippers) converted 20 Houston turnovers into 30 points.

Jamal Crawford who was big for the Clippers against the Pelicans and Thunder went 1 of 6 from three point land. He left the game with 13 seconds remaining in the second quarter as he suffered a left calf strain. He had eight points.

Glen Davis made his debut with the team today, entered the game with 1.8 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Doc Rivers and Davis go way back to Doc’s head coaching days in Boston. In his rookie season he won a championship. Houston, before today’s loss had won 16 of 20.

This game gave the Clippers the edge in home-court if Houston finishes with the same record as LA. Clippers have won eight of the nine games against the Rockets. The Clippers will face the Rockets one more time and that will be in March 29.
