Los Angeles Clippers vs New Orleans Pelicans Preview

The last time the Clippers and Pelicans met, New Orleans lost by 13.  The Clippers made 16 3-pointers and had a sizable 19 point lead in the third quarter. If the Pelicans want to win they must play defense. Defense wins games, so does offense but it helps to play defense. During the last matchup the Pelicans didn’t play defense and allowed open drives to the basket. Blake Griffin scored 22 points.

They currently have the fourth best record in the West at 40-20. The Clippers have a new addition to the team, they added Danny Granger on Friday after clearing waivers. Granger’s contract was bought out by the Philadelphia 76ers a week after acquiring him through a trade.  Granger will fill the void left by the injured J.J. Redick.  There is no timetable for Redick’s return to the team.  Earlier in the week the Clippers also signed Glen “Big Baby” Davis. The Clippers are explosive on offense, as they are the second highest scoring team in the NBA this season, averaging 107.2 ppg. DeAndre Jordan had 16 rebounds and 14 points. Jamal Crawford had 24 points in that game.

One matchup that we should look forward to seeing is between Anthony Davis and Blake Griffin.Griffin had 22 points and 4 rebounds in Monday’s matchup. As for the Pelicans’ Davis, he scored 26 points and pulled down 11 boards on Monday, and had 32 points in Friday night’s loss against the Phoenix Suns. Griffin has scored 20 or more points in 18 straight games.
