After getting injured on Dec. 29 and playing two games with the Los Angeles D-Fenders the Lakers’ D-League affiliate team, Xavier Henry will make his return against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday. Xavier Henry will have limited minutes though. Henry averaged 17 points and 3.5 assists in just 24.5 minutes per game in the weeks before he got injured.
A lot has changed during Henry’s absence from the team. The Lakers were 13-18 at the time of his injury and are now 20-39. Also the Lakers traded Steve Blake for Marshon Brooks and Kent Bazemore, and Henry will now be fighting for playing time. Henry is one of the 12 players the Lakers have that will be a free agent this summer. Before his injury he averaged 10.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game this season.
