The Los Angeles Lakers, who are 21-39, defeated the Sacramento Kings on Friday and the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday will try to beat the Pelicans tonight. The Pelicans (23-37) also played on Monday, losing in Sacramento. New Orleans has been struggling as of late, they have lost eight in a row. Anthony Davis is playing through a shoulder unlike his teammates Ryan Anderson, Jrue Holiday, and Jason Smith are expected to miss the remainder of the season. The Lakers are still without Nick Young, Steve Nash, and Kobe Bryant.

Davis is only in his second year and has proven he can be one of the league’s top power forward. Davis is averaging 20.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.9 blocks. He is also shooting more then 50% from the field. He is going to be match-up against Pau Gasol. Gasol has been improving as of late, averaging  17.2 points and 10 rebounds per contest. This matchup should be interesting to watch, as Pau has the size advantage but Davis has the athleticism.

Eric Gordon is the Pelicans’ leading scorer, from the perimeter averaging more then 15.5 points a game. New Orleans is one of the best three point shooting teams in the league (37.8%). Jodie Meeks has been proving he can be a consistent scorer on the Lakers, averaging 14.9 points per game and shooting almost 40.0% from three-point. I’m really proud of Meeks this season. He has vastly improved since last season. Last season Meeks was just a spot up 3-point shooter, this season Meeks is shooting 3’s much better and he is driving into the basket a whole lot more.  If the Lakers are thinking lottery position, they’re going in the wrong direction with the recent win streak.
