An Update On The Lakers Coaching Search

As anticipated, the Los Angeles Lakers let the NBA Draft Lottery come and go before the real Head Coaching search got under way. This morning Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak gave an update on the coaching search and how much longer it should take.

The Lakers will begin and intensive search over the next couple of weeks and it would seem the team will have a coach in place before the NBA Draft on June 20th.

Also, Kupchak is not interested in talking about whether the coach will be a veteran or a rookie. That seems like it’s not part of the conversation between the front office right now.

The Lakers did have an interview with veteran coach Mike Dunleavy this morning and he is expected to be a candidate they consider going forward. However, it looks like the Lakers have a lot more interviews in front of them and now know that they will select 7th in the upcoming draft.

Ollie turning down the lakers as well as other similar candidates backing away is exactly what you would expect. The Lakers luster is gone. No one wants to join a sinking ship. The Lakers will have the same problem now signing free agents.

LA is a $hithole of government corruption, crime, drugs, perversion, horrible schools, horrible public facilities, collapsing public structures, ancient sports facilities, horrible fans, smog, traffic and the highest cost of living in the US.

LOL, and all that, it still beats out any other city in the country. There have already been a good number of potential draftees who have a desire to play in LA, specifically for the Lakers. Granted, your city is probably an engineering masterpiece with a government who is the envy of the free-world, but when top prospects begin to mention it by name, we’ll begin to take notice, but until then, LA, and specifically the Lakers is still a prime destination, and in a year or 2, when the Lakers will seek to find a new franchise face, I’d imagine the line will extend all the way to your utopic vision of your magnificent locale.
