Julius Randle Does Not Need Surgery On Right Foot

According to reports, Los Angeles Lakers first round pick Julius Randle does not need surgery on his right foot and has been cleared for action.

The Lakers, who drafted the former Kentucky star 7th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, were mildly concerned that Randle would need to have screws removed from his right foot. Randle had surgery on his foot 18 months ago, while in high school, and there were concerns that the foot had not healed properly. However, Randle was adamant that his foot was just fine and confident he wouldn’t need another procedure. Well, I guess no one knows your body better than you do.

Randle and the Lakers will obviously be relived that he has received a clean bill of health. The Lakers will likely add Randle to the Las Vegas summer league roster before next week, pending that the two sides come to a contract agreement before summer league action begins.

Based on Ben McLemore‘s deal (7th pick) with the Sacramento Kings last season, Randle should be in line to receive a deal worth a little bit more than the $13.1M, 4-year deal McLemore signed last year. Here are our projections for Randle’s contract:

2014-2015: $2,960,000

2015-2016: $3,100,000

2016-2017: $3,250,000 (Team Option)

2017-2018: $4,170,000 (Team Option)
