Yasiel Puig Will Participate In Home Run Derby

Looks like Yasiel Puig will be pulling double duty next week when he heads to Minnesota for the 2014 All-Star game.

Puig was selected today to participate in the 2014 Home Run Derby by National League team captain Troy Tulowitzki. Of the selection Tulowitzki said, “He has a flair for the dramatic, and he likes the lights. I think he’s going to do great.”

There is no doubt that Puig has a flair for the dramatic and likes for the spotlight to be on him while he’s performing. Puig, who has hit 12 HR’s this season, will be competing against some of the best home run hitters in the major leagues. While the rosters aren’t complete yet, Jose Bautista, the AL Captain, and Tulowitzki have made 75% of the selections so far. Below are the rosters as of now:

“He has a flair for the dramatic, and he likes the lights,” Troy Tulowitzki said upon announcing the selection of Puig. “I think he’s going to do great.”

National League:

Troy Tulowitzki

Yasiel Puig

Todd Frazier

Giancarlo Stanton

American League:

Jose Bautista

Adam Jones

Yoenis Cespedes (Reigning Champion)

Brian Dozier

There has been speculation that Mike Trout, Nelson Cruz, or Miguel Cabrera would participate in the event; however, those players seem unlikely to enter the contest at this point.

So, do you think Yasiel Puig can win the 2014 Home Run Debry?
