Report: Lakers Sign Forward Ed Davis To Two Year Deal

The Los Angeles Lakers have signed forward Ed Davis to a two-year, $2M contract.

Last year Davis played for Memphis Grizzlies and averaged 5.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Davis has played for two teams in his NBA career, the Grizzlies and the Toronto Raptors. With the Raptors, Davis was a promising young big man after being selected with the 13th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

He was traded to the Grizzlies in the Rudy Gay swap two seasons ago and was considered to be one of the main pieces the Grizzlies received in the trade. However, his minutes were limited as he backed up two of the leagues best big men, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. Under coaches Lionel Hollins and Dave Joeger, Davis was forced the ride the pine and never got to grow into his potential.

On Toronto Davis averaged 7.7 points and 6.8 rebounds in 24 minutes per game. Davis comes to the Lakers with the hopes of more playing time as he will be paired with rookie Julius Randle and forward Jordan Hill.
