Clippers to open preseason with a STAPLES visit from Golden State Warriors

Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Register tweeted out the Los Angeles Clippers’ 2014 preseason schedule Friday afternoon, and it begins with a rematch of the first round of the 2014 playoffs.

Chris Paul and the gang get started on October 7 with a visit from the Golden State Warriors. Fabricated or not, the two clubs have developed something of a rivalry as both teams climbed out of the NBA basement over the last few years. Though the Donald Sterling issue happened to emerge in the middle of the series, the vitriol between these two teams will likely return with the Clippers ownership basically settled.

As of now, the Clippers expect to be at full strength with Blake Griffin sitting out the FIBA World Cup of Basketball to rest his back. Newcomers Spencer Hawes, Jordan Farmar and rookie C.J. Wilcox will get a chance to mesh with a roster of nine returning players.

Also slated to visit the STAPLES Center are the Utah Jazz (Oct. 17), Phoenix Suns (Oct. 22) and Portland Trail Blazers (Oct. 24).

The Clippers will travel to Portland and Utah for back-to-back games on Oct. 12-13 and get the Warriors in ORACLE Arena on Oct. 21. They continue their Mandalay Bay Events Center series with the Denver Nuggets in Las Vegas, Nev. on Oct. 18.
