Before I write down anything else, I just wanted to share what I am sure almost everyone in the world is aware of by now: former UCLA Bruin and Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Zach LaVine jumps very high, and certainly much higher than the average human.
With that being said, can we please just hand him the 2015 NBA Slam Dunk Contest trophy right now? Do we really have to wait until February? It’s hard to imagine anybody actually out-dunking Zach LaVine. Ever since the 2014 NBA Draft, Zach has been showing up at Pro-Am games and going berserk with some of the most impressive dunks I have seen in a long time. Not only is he jumping ridiculously high, but he is also throwing down dunks that should probably be illegal. It almost isn’t fair.
Coming out of UCLA, we all knew that Zach was very athletic. His vertical was measured at 46” at the combine. He’s been a frequent flyer for some time now. It is amazing to see him glide through the air so effortlessly. Case in point:
Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself, but it seems like this kid has the potential to be one of the greatest dunkers of all time. Sure, he may not become the best player ever. But, dunking? It’s hard to see anybody out-dunking him. The creativity combined with the athleticism is impressive . These dunks by LaVine are very Vince Carter-in-2000-esque. .
Mark it down right now: Zach Lavine will win the 2015 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. That is my bold prediction for this upcoming season. Based on what we’ve seen, it may not even be that bold.
