NFL To LA: Chargers To Los Angeles Will Give Us The Best Of Both Worlds

In a few years, there may finally be a professional football team back in Los Angeles thanks to the NFL to LA movement — and I feel the San Diego Chargers are the best fit for our city.

The San Diego Chargers just came off two consecutive winning seasons finishing 9-7 this past season.

Also, in 2013 they made it to the Divisional round of the NFL playoffs losing to their adversaries Denver Broncos.

Their starting quarterback Philip Rivers is one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL today.

Rivers finished the season with over 4’000 passing yards, 31 touchdown passes, 18 interceptions and finished 10th in total QBR.

If that’s not impressive, let me tell you who finished behind him in total QBR.

Brace yourself, Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, Matthew Stafford and other good quarterbacks.

Furthermore, Rivers will have the Chargers in the mix of a playoff position every single year. He puts up impressive numbers, and he is very poised in the pocket.

In the NFL today teams need to have a really good quarterback to at least compete for the division.

With Peyton Manning on his last legs this would be a perfect time for Los Angeles to inherit the Chargers going forward.

Additionally, Rivers is really good at spreading the ball around the field. He has tremendous accuracy. Three wide receivers including a tight end all had over 50 receptions and over 750 receiving yards.

Keenan Allen is one of those guys and I’m looking forward to seeing in Los Angeles hopefully.

He played for the Cal Golden Bears and he is loaded with size and talent.

Unfortunately, their future hall of fame tight end Antonio Gates won’t be playing for the first 4 games of the season.

He has been suspended for using a PED.

It’s a huge blow to the team, especially since Gates has been Rivers’ favorite target for many years.

However, with drafting 15th overall pick Melvin Gordon of Wisconsin I think the Gates suspension they will survive.

Gordon played phenomenal in his last few seasons at Wisconsin.

In his junior season, he recorded over 1600 yards and 12 touchdowns. But, in his senior season he surpassed those astounding numbers and recorded over 2700 total yards and 32 touchdowns.

  • Gordon easily become one of the best running backs in college football and drafting this guy was the prefect choice for the Chargers.

Gordon gives them a go to guy in the backfield for the first time since they had LaDainian Tomlinson.

He won’t be as great as LA, but having another threat in the backfield will help open up the offense for a marksman like Rivers.

Offensively, the Chargers were 30th in rushing a year ago and Gordon will help improve that.

Defensively, the Chargers finished top 10 in total yards and top 5 in defending the pass. That’s pretty impressive with having to play a Peyton Manning led team two times.

They weren’t to well in rushing defense ranking the bottom half of the league at 26th.

Overall, the defense is pretty darn good with playmakers like Eric Weddle and Brandon Flowers highlighting the secondary.

In addition, with Rivers at quarterback and a pretty good defense don’t be surprised to see them go deep in the playoffs once again going forward.

Rivers will eventually get over that hump and hopefully it’s in Los Angeles.

They have the talent to make a run in the playoffs consistently every year and for a city like Los Angeles, we love teams that win and we want a team that wins.

As for the other candidates( Rams and Raiders), both teams have ways to go to be good consistently every year. The Rams have the great defense but offensively, they can be limited.

Bottom Line: Los Angeles deserves to be well-represented.

The have question marks at the quarterback and wide receiver position. I know they traded for Nick Foles but really? Nick Foles.

The Raiders are the same, they have a young unproven quarterback that has loads of talent but give I want a quarterback with playoffs wins under his belt.
