Matt Barnes Reveals Beef With Doc

If you didn’t have a real reason to pay attention when Matt Barnes returns to LA to face the Clippers, you do now.

I guess the Matt Barnes entertainment train hasn’t left the station yet — great news for those of us wanting to see if the Clippers are all hype this year or not.

Barnes hasn’t been in headlines for the best of reasons in recent memory, but he seems to be focusing his anger and aggression on basketball (always the best option) — more specifically at Doc Rivers.

Aiming at the Clippers’ head coach, Barnes reportedly commented that Rivers “couldn’t wait” to get rid of him.

He cited his reason for this as the fact that he was the first trade of the off-season that the Clippers made.

It seems as if Barnes might just be trying to get some more attention, seeing that Rivers was trying to better the team and he notably needed to do so after they crumbled under the pressure of playing the Houston Rockets in round two.

It’s important for Barnes to realize that while this is professional sports, sometimes the decisions that he or other players are involved in aren’t personal — it’s just business.

It’s also important for Doc Rivers to remind himself that with high kinds of power comes even higher expectations.

In short, Rivers shouldn’t make too much of Barnes’ comments — he should let the game speak for itself.

Which is what most professionals would do.

Barnes is now a member of the Memphis Grizzlies, and they don’t clash with the Clippers until Nov. 9.

The game will be played in Staples Center, and it’ll give Matt Barnes all the more reason to be pumped up to rub it in on his old home court.

After that, the teams don’t play each other until Mar. 19 in Memphis.

If nothing else, that one will be a must-watch.

Memphis has a ton of potential, and with Matt Barnes now giving a needed spark on the court and in the locker room, it’d be wise to expect the Grizzlies to be in the thick of the Western Conference playoff hunt.

With that, it’s highly plausible to believe that the Grizzlies and Clippers will meet in the playoffs come season’s end.

At that point in the year, the Clippers will be up against an all-or-nothing mentality while the Grizzlies will be looking to play spoiler.

It’s the perfect build up to the next big basketball fight — and the fun is just getting started.
