LA Clippers Back On Track

The LA Clippers play tonight at The Staples Center against the Memphis Grizzlies.

We could see this series in the playoffs.

They are always a fun and exciting team to watch even when they lose.

I think their fall point is The Houston Rockets.

Last year, the Rockets came down from a 3-0 deficit in the playoffs to knock off the Clippers in thrilling fashion.

The Rockets then lost to the NBA champion Golden State Warriors in the Conference Finals.

Welcome to the Western Conference in the NBA — it is a three way circle.

After two  straight losses from starting  with a 4-0 record, the question becomes whether or not the Clippers will bounce back after one of those losses was at home.

They have the right starters and a bench now who can produce points and prevent points.

I will continue to emphasize the point that the Clippers need to acquire one more player before the trade deadline which isn’t for awhile in order to be championship contending.

I say add a three or four position to the team who is a known defensive player yet can contribute on offense and is all about winning a championship.

For the Clippers to win, PG Chris Paul needs to facilitate on offense as he usually does.

He has great supporting cast in Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, J.J. Reddick and the bench as well.

Tonight’s game is a homecoming for Matt Barnes who left in the off season and was a bad move by the Clippers to trade him away.

In order for the Clippers to win tonight they must play fast paced and with their up tempo speed.

This is because the Grizzlies have two big men on the floor who are known for strength and not speed.

The Clippers are at an advantage when going small because they big men are in shape, fast, and the team is electrifying.

They need to make their mid-range jumpers and free throws.

Defense without fouling is key or keep the fouls to a minimum because this will be a physical dogfight.

The Los Angeles bench needs to outplay the Grizzlies bench as well to keep them in the game and have a chance of winning at home after their disappointing loss.

Both teams have tremendous benches who produce on a daily including during the postseason as well.

The Los Angeles Clippers are inching closer to becoming a championship team.

Thanks in part to having a championship coach in Doc Rivers.

He has helped the team improve tremendously as well as prove adversity when they defeated the San Antonio Spurs last year in the first round of the playoffs in seven games.

Bottom Line: Lob City means business.

For them to make that step to become a championship contending they need Jordan to make his free throws, Griffin to keep making mid range jumpers, the bench to produce on offense and defense, and the whole team to step up in their defensive game and be consistent on the offensive side of the ball.

When they make the Western Conference Finals, then society will consider them a championship contender, and legitimate team if they don’t already.
