The LA Kings are back to dealing with and addressing domestic violence issues following the arrest of minor league goalie Patrik Bartosak.

Per a report coming from CBS, the LA Kings have officially suspend goalie Patrik Bartosak in response to his arrest related to domestic violence charges — of which you can read more here.

The arrest took place in Manchester, New Hampshire, and isn’t a good look for either side of the situation.

Bartosak faces charges for allegedly harming a 20-year old female — to the point where choking is part of the accusations.

This really doesn’t look good for the Kings because they’ve already had their fair share of off-ice problems and it seemed like they were finally past that phase.

Apparently not.

Other incidents that took a stab at the Kings’ reputation included a similar domestic violence case with now ex-King Slava Voynov and a time when Jarret Stoll faced felony cocaine charges.

While it’s not what any organization wants to deal with, it’s another note worth highlighting when one looks at the serious issues players across all professional sports are dealing with.

Bartosak is hardly the first.

He was a large part of the championship run that the Manchester Monarchs, an LA Kings minor league affiliate, put on just last season.

The troubled goalie was noted as the top goalie in the Canadian Hockey League in the 2012-13 season, but this is a major setback that will be hard — practically impossible — for him to fully come back from in any good light.

One other similarity between the situation Bartosak is in and the one that Voynov was in not so long ago is that it may involve a voluntary extraction back to their native country.

In Voynov’s case, he plead no contest to what he was facing, and returned to Russia under his own will.

Bartosak is from the Czech Republic, so that could be one of the options moving forward as the legal proceedings are underway.

The Kings have released a statement regarding the incident, citing that they do not accept, tolerate, or allow these actions in any fashion and they will not tolerate what allegedly took place.

Bottom Line: it’s on us.

As the investigation continues and more details are presumably released regarding what took place and what the punishment will be, Bartosak can only wait for what lies ahead for him.

All in all, though, one thing is clear — there is a problem with abuse outside of professional sports, and it needs to stop now.
