Jordan Clarkson: The Dilemma

Jordan Clarkson’s been huge for the Lakers in his first two seasons, but is the honeymoon over?

Power struggles never end pretty in any sport, but in basketball they tend to be the thing that can derail the most focused, determined, or even elite franchises.

Across the association, we’ve seen this happen before — and the Lakers are no exception.

As Eric Yee from Lake Show Life pointed out in an article, the rise of Jordan Clarkson could become a problem if it begins to conflict with D’Angelo Russell.

Something to the effect of what happened between Monta Ellis and Steph Curry within the Golden State Warriors just a few years back.

If that particular power trip had gone the other direction, we might not have gotten to see the dominant Warriors team that we see in today’s game.

Russell is starting to show promise this year, as his groove is becoming more evident each night — including his 27-point outburst not long ago.

Clarkson, on the other hand, proved to be the only good, consistent thing from a year ago.

Now, as the focus has shifted towards D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle, respectively, Clarkson might be in danger of taking a back seat to stardom.

But if he comes up too quickly to save his spot, it could spark an ugly sight in Los Angeles.

I’ve teamed up with Kellan JansenMehdi Bouneb, Corbin Warnock, and Damon Taylor to give our take on the situation, what merit it holds at the moment, and the possible outcomes that the Lakers could be dealing with.
