The Los Angeles Rams are going to need all hands on deck.

It’s been 12 years since the Los Angeles Rams have won their division, so what could they do to end this drought?

The Los Angeles Rams have not won the NFC West since 2003, but this is the beginning of the year where every team has the same record and there’s hope for any team to win their division and that same hope goes for the Rams.

But the Rams have some work to do if they want that hope to turn to a reality.

The Rams are in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, as they have the Arizona Cardinals who won the division with a 12-4 record and in the regular season last year and looked to be one of the most complete teams in the NFL.

The 2013 Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, who have one of the toughest defenses and one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL with Russell Wilson, and the San Francisco 49ers, now led by Chip Kelly who hopes to bring the 49ers back to being contenders.

So the Rams must upgrade their roster if they want to contend at all.

To do so, first the Rams must improve the 32nd ranked offense in 2015 if it wants to make any statement in 2016.

The biggest need on the Rams, something that must be addressed no matter what, is the quarterback position.

Nick Foles and Case Keenum have not shown they can lead the Rams to the playoffs, so this draft will be important for the Rams upcoming season. They need to draft a quarterback capable of turning the worst offense around.

The Rams do have a few choices to choose from in this years draft but it is critical they get it right as they need someone who can contribute from day one.

Once they land a quarterback, they need to surround him weapons, which they can do in the draft and also free agency. There is still some talented names in free agency at another one of the Rams needs — wide receiver.

The Rams must upgrade their receiving corp with the only names that stand out is Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt. Anquan Boldin and Andre Johnson are still out in free agency and both of them can play roles in the Rams offense.

  • The Rams can also add another player maker through the draft like Laquon Treadwell, Josh Doctson, or Michael Thomas just to name a few.

Secondly, Los Angeles need to add more depth to their defense.

The Rams’ defense has some bright young stars with Aaron Donald and Trumaine Johnson that they can build with, but the Rams needs more depth across the defense if they want their defense to keep improving — secondary help is a must.

After losing two key pieces of their defense Janoris Jenkins and Rodney McLeod, there aren’t easy gaps to fill at the moment, but there are a few free agents like corner back Antonio Cromartie or Leon Hall still out there, just to name a few.

After losing McLeon, the Rams must find a replacement unless they feel comfortable with someone on the roster. But even if that’s that case, they still must add depth via draft will be perfect scenario especially if they can find a stud.

There are a couple of prospects the Rams can look at, including Darian Thompson or Karl Joseph who they can target in the second or third round.

The Rams can’t be done there if they want to compete in 2016; they still have major needs at major positions.

Luckily, the season doesn’t start tomorrow and the Rams can still add talent to their roster.

This draft will be important for the Rams because they must add a franchise quarterback and a play-making receiver or they will have the same problems as last year.

If the Rams can add a quarterback and receiver to pair along with superstar Todd Gurley, then the Rams offense will be exciting to watch.

They must not only add two key starters but also they must add depth and players that can develop into future starters.

The Rams want to start things hot in the Los Angeles and if they can win the division their first year out here that will be exciting for not just the Rams the fans.
