LA Rams need to Bold in Free Agency and Sign James Jones

The NFL Draft is coming in ten days and multiple media outlets, critics have been talking about the draft and which players should be drafted by which teams and why.

The Los Angeles Rams made news this past week trading up to receive the number 1 overall pick in the draft from the Tennessee Titans, moving up 14 spots because they need multiple positions to be filled before the season starts.

Some examples are tight end, quarterback, and receiver.

These are the three positions they are in dire need of which I agree with.

The team though can only have so many players on the team and the practice squad.

The organization has to take into consideration when making these decisions the luxury tax, salary cap, franchise tag, players salary, ticket prices, traveling expenses, and more.

There is a lot of thinking and planning that goes into acquiring free agents and drafting new players.

The Rams lost some key players on defense, but they signed some good players in free agency to replace those vacancies on defense.

Their defense is not the issue they are concerned with, it is their offense they are concerned with.

Earlier in the year I said the LA Rams need to draft a tight end or a receiver who is versatile and can play both positions such as James Jones.

Jones formerly played with the Green Bay Packers and had a small stint with the Oakland Raiders.

The Rams need to acquire him and draft a backup tight end or receiver if possible.

He originally played with the Green Bay before having a small stint in Oakland to assist quarterback Derek Carr in his rookie year.

Jones displayed his leadership to him and other teammates to help them improve daily as players and as a team.

They signed Jones a couple games into the 2016 regular season after he helped out in Oakland.

He then landed back in Green Bay, before recently being released by them; after he helped them get into the 2016 playoffs without receiver Jordy Nelson.

Now with the number 1 pick in the NFL draft they will most likely draft a quarterback, however they can take Jalen Ramsey a defensive back to strengthen their defense overall, then build their offense.

It is most likely the Rams will draft a quarterback to help build their offense along side second year running back Todd Gurley and the young offensive line.

Then with the money they have afterwards they need to acquire and sign James Jones in free agency to help be a leader and and mentor on this young team.

Jones was reliable for the Green Packers when multiple receivers went down for the season or a few games this past season such as Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb.

He was able to make plays when needed and showed up big in big games.

There were only few time where he was absent in games where no one else showed up and that hurt the Packers.

Next: Luke Walton should not be pursued by the Los Angeles Lakers

All in all he is reliable and can help this young Rams team with their inconstancies at the receiver posistion.
