The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim win 3 games against the Seattle Mariners to earn the series sweep.

This sweep of the Mariners comes in the times of rumors, about trading superstar Mike Trout because of the teams poor play at the start of the season.

These rumors came out to be false as stated by the Angels GM saying he would not trade Trout because he exclaimed, “You don’t trade a superstar to another team!”

Trout has even stated, “he likes it in Anaheim and wants to stay.”

The day before the series against the Mariners the Angels made a few transactions to help improve their roster and lineup.

These transactions seemed to work this weekend whether they actually participated in the game or were just there.

Just the act of making the transactions seemed to have helped the team even the starters.

It was as if making these moves motivated the Angels ball club and they played more determined.

They did earn this sweep, but they continue to struggle although it is early in the season and they have plenty of more games to play.

It is not how you start but how you finish in sports, however if they are so behind this year which is kind of similar to last year they will just barely miss the playoffs again.

To make the playoffs and be a contender like they were a couple of years ago; they need to play motivated like this every game as a team and different players need to continue to step up.

They need to win games now to get over a couple games of .500 therefore that if they slip in the back-end of the season or or if some team catches up to them they would have a lead and fine by a few games.

It is better to win early even though it is how you finish the season.

In this 3rd game Hector Santiago pitched 8.0 innings almost a full game, he only walked one batter, only two batters got hits off, and he had 5 strike outs with an era of 3.42

He threw 8 shutout innings.

In the box score the Angels numbers were greater or higher than those of the Mariners.

For example, the Angels left more runners on base 17 runners to the opponents 7.

The 3 runs scored were also 3 RBIs  by the Halos and they had 9 hits to the home teams 2 hits.

Daniel Nava was one of the batters in the game who stepped up with 2 of the 3 RBIs in the game.

The Halos had 34 at-bats and 12 strikeouts to the Mariners 27 at-bats and 7 strikeouts.

These Angels have kicked it up a notch and need to continue this in San Diego and throughout the whole season.

Currently in the AL West standings they are in 3rd place with a record of 16-21 just about 6 games behind the first place Texas Rangers.

The question is who will step up to the plate next?

Pun totally intended, will it be one player, multiple players, or the whole team?

If there were any fans thinking Mike Trout was getting traded or wanted to get traded that is false and this series sweep sure has squashed those rumors if there were any.
