With 2017-18 being the season where jersey advertisements will be displayed in the NBA, it’s time to look at potential Lakers jersey ads.

Just last week, the Philadelphia 76ers became the first team in the NBA to make a deal with a company related to jersey sponsorship. Stubhub will be partnering with the 76ers, and the jerseys will be the beginning of a domino effect across the league.

As reported by ESPN, Philadelphia’s jersey space was given to Stubhub over the course of a three year trial period and came at the price of $5 million.

Per ESPN:

"Teams are allowed to sell to any company so long as it doesn’t deal in gambling, alcohol or politics. The NBA has given protected status — meaning the companies’ competitors can’t show up on a team jersey — to a number of its national partners: the media partners (ESPN, ABC, Turner), the apparel partner (Nike starting in 2017-18) and on-court partners Tissot (the official timekeeper) and Spalding (the official ball). No other league partners, including Ticketmaster, a StubHub competitor, are protected."

So what does this mean for the Lakers?

There are an abundance of companies that would shell out plenty of money to appear on any of the jerseys that the Lakers sport from season to season. Potential sponsor ideas include Snapchat, Warner Brothers, and possibly Staples.

Here’s a look at what those three sponsors could look like.
