The Los Angeles Rams were flat out embarrassed on Monday night.

Since the Rams were granted to relocate to Los Angeles, there has been plenty of hype leading up to the regular season.

From drafting Jared Goff with the first overall pick, having a fully healthy Todd Gurley entering his second season, and a defense with the looks of being a top ten maybe top five defense in the NFL.

Since the rosters were trimmed to 53 players, the hype train started to derail as Jared Goff was listed as the third string quarterback on the depth chart.

From then on there has been plenty of questions, and concerns for the future franchise quarterback to be listed as the backup of a backup.

Beside that point, Rams fans and analysts still continued to hype the Rams up for the first game of the season.

As expectation for the Los Angeles Rams is to shine in the bright lights, because that’s what teams in Los Angeles do.

The Rams opened the season on the road against their Northern California rivals in the San Francisco 49ers during  prime time on Monday Night Football and didn’t look to good at all.

San Francisco resembled the old 49ers that was in the Super Bowl a couple seasons ago, but that’s what everyone said last year when the 49ers crushed the Vikings in the season opener, 20-3.

Anyways, Chip Kelly shinned in his 49ers debut, as the Rams looked more like lambs.

Case Keenum wasn’t able to get anything going in the passing game with constant pressure in his face all game.

The wide receivers for the Rams were inconsistent, as Kenny Britt was basically the only receiver able to get open.

With Tavon Austin tied with the most receptions alongside Britt, but was unable to make anything happen with his opportunities.

Todd Gurley also struggled to start his second season campaign on a strong note, being limited to only 47 yards at a 2.8 average yards per carry with no touchdowns.

The offensive line was also horrendous being unable to protect Keenum, and supply holes for Gurley in the run game.

It doesn’t make it any better with the 49ers stacking the box, and forcing the offense to make plays without the ball in Gurley’s hands.

Aaron Donald, and the highly talented defense mirrored a lackluster  and frustrated defensive unit.

Which consisted of missed tackles, blown coverage, and a barrage of penalties that supplied the 49ers offense with momentum, and cost Donald to get ejected in the fourth quarter from a pair of two personal foul penalties.

The defense as well allowed Blaine Gabbert, and the offense to get a total of 320 offensive yards with 4 TD’s.

Continuing the streak for eight straight Monday Night loses for the Rams, and seven straight wins on Monday Night for the 49ers.

A couple more interesting facts to include is that the 49ers have won six straight season openers, and in the last 10 seasons, the only teams to get shut out in Week 1 are the 2009 and 2016 Rams.

In the end, the Rams season is far from over, but have tons of things to fix on both sides of the ball from now until next Sunday when they play the Seattle Seahawks in a highly anticipated home opener.
