No. 3 UCLA Bruins fall to No. 14 Arizona in what was an exciting game.

The UCLA Bruins have now lost their second game of the season. Before this loss they won six straight games.

Oregon was the first team they lost to in a hype filled game. Losing to Oregon was also the start to conference play this season. UCLA only lost by two points.

Their loss Saturday to Arizona was their wort loss yet, losing by eleven points. However the game wasn’t as bad as the score indicates.

According to the box score, every player was productive.

For example, all three of the Bruins’ bench players played extended minutes and produced points. One takeaway from the bench play is that they need to find more ways to score points.

Having Aaron Holiday coming off the bench improved the whole teams production.

He posted 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Thomas Welsh was the only starter not in double figures. Welsh had his opportunities but missed five shots. He was 5-7 from the field. Also, he was just shy of a double-double with 9 rebounds and 6 points.

One of their top players, Lonzo Ball was the leading scorer for the Bruins with 24 points.

UCLA outscored the Wildcats starters 71 to 68 points, while their bench was outscored 22 to 14 points. Why did the UCLA Bruins lose you ask? They could not make it to the charity stripe as many times as their opponent did.

UCLA earned 14 trips to the line making 11 of the shots, while the Wildcats were 19-21.

Both teams were horrid from the three-point line. The Bruins made 10 out of 31 attempts for 32.3%.

They also were 32-71 from the field and were out-rebounded 42 to 33. Missing rebound opportunities also led to missing second chance points.
