Wayne Gretzky will be joining the All-Star weekend festivities as a coach.

Wayne Gretzky will be replacing John Tortorella as a head coach in the 2017 NHL All-Star Game.

Tortorella, due to family reasons, was replaced by Gretzky early Saturday afternoon.

This will be a quite a game for the team since most of them grew up watching Gretzky. Also, he played for the Los Angeles Kings who are in the Western Conference and Pacific Division.

He is coaching a different division than the one he competed in. This may be harder on him than the players since he became the replacement coach early Saturday.

Wayne Gretzky will display his teams athletic abilities in hopes of advancing to the Finals.

Hoping is all he can do. He can only hope that his team plays the second semi-final game Sunday.

Then again, if his division whens the skills competition they will have an advantage.

They will choose who they want to play and when they want to compete against them. Nonetheless the players are the ones who decide the outcomes of games by their performances.

The Metropolitan team has a legitimate chance to win the All-Star game with Wayne Gretzky at the helm of the show.

According to an article from NHL.com, he is the NHLs’ leader in goals (894), assists(1,963), and points(2,857).

Also, he coached the Coyotes in 2005 for four years.

Additionally, he has played in 18 All-Star games scoring 13 goals and 25 points, which is the most all time in history.

Wayne Gretzky will be coaching All-Stars Sidney Crosby and Alec Ovechkin who are goal snipers. These two players and their team have a mentor who will teach them the tricks of scoring goals and earning assists.

These players will learn skills that were crafted by their coach.
