We’ve officially made it to National Signing Day for college football.

It’s that time of year again.

National Signing Day has arrived and all across the country kids are declaring their intention to join a football programs and sports reporters are falling all over themselves to scoop where they are going.

Here in Los Angeles, the rival UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans will try and pull the next generation of stars that will grace the Rose Bowl and Memorial Coliseum.

The hype and the noise will be ratcheted up to 11 as the Trojans and Bruins will not only try to beat out their conference rivals but both will claim they run Los Angeles.

Of, course both fan bases and alumnus will pore over every recruit and every signing as if the next Troy Aikman or Carson Palmer will be showing up to campus in the fall (heck early enrollees will be there for spring practice in April).

Since their last big recruiting class the Bruins have gone a mediocre 12-12.

Injuries to Rosen and ineffective play from Jamabo and others have sunk the high expectations of that recruiting class.

Trojans fans shouldn’t laugh at their counter parts since playing for in their third championship game in a row back in 2006, the Trojans have consistently been a destination highly sought out recruits.

Despite this, the Trojans have yet to play for another National Championship game.

Sanctions and instability with coaching have hurt the Trojans but there were some highly touted players before sanctions hit and after they were lifted and only this last season have the Trojans been able to return to prominence.

So for all you fans it’s easy to be excited, heck major sports outlets want you to keep hitting refresh and calling in to their radio shows.

Just remember nothing is guaranteed and what happens in February isn’t as important as what happens in the Fall.
