Matt LaFleur will reportedly join the Los Angeles Rams as offensive coordinator.

Two days after the Super Bowl ended, the Atlanta Falcons’ staff reshuffling is benefiting the Los Angeles Rams.

ESPN reporter Adam Schefter is reporting that Falcons quarterbacks coach Matt LaFleur is expected to be named the new Rams offensive coordinator.

The 37-year old LaFleur has been the QB coach the last two years with the Falcons, having previously been in the same position with Notre Dame and the Washington Redskins.

Lafleur has mentored quarterbacks like Kirk Cousins and Matt Ryan.

This past year, Ryan was named the NFL MVP after guiding the Falcons offense to 540 points — the seventh best total in NFL history.

Ryan was able to go from a 21 TD 16 INT season in 2015 to throwing for 38 TD’s and 7 INT’s this season, leading the Falcons to their second Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.

As OC for the Rams, LaFleur will be expected to turn around an abysmal offense that was last in points, passing yards, and rushing yards.

The player to most likely to benefit from LaFleur’s guidance would Jared Goff.

After being taken 1st overall in the 2016 draft Goff was looked at as the franchises QB of the future, but doubts have started to creep into the conversation as Goff’s rookie season was disastrous.

All the blame can’t be put on Goff though, in order for the Rams offense to be consistent they’ll need to shore up their offensive line and get Goff some weapons at wide receiver.

It may prove difficult to do that this year as the Rams don’t have draft pick until the fourth round.
