Arte Moreno let the public know of the team’s decision.

During a news conference in Tempe, Arizona where the Los Angeles Angels hold spring training, owner Arte Moreno assured Angels fans that the team would remain at Angels Stadium until 2029.

The team had an out clause that they could have explored in 2019, because Angels Stadium is city owned the Angels could have explored building their own stadium.  In the past rumors have been floated that Moreno wanted to move the team back to Los Angeles, the teams original home from 1961-1965.

Moreno emphasized that the team has invested 40 million dollars into updating the stadium since Moreno became owner in 2003.

Angels Stadiums is the fourth oldest major league park and despite it’s age it hardly shows.

Recently the Angels installed new lights, improved the visitors’ clubhouse, added new concourse lighting and upgraded the suites.

Moreno was optimistic about the teams improvement into the future as well, the Angels will be getting out of long time contracts to C.J. Wilson and Josh Hamilton by 2018 giving the team more financial flexibility.

It remains to be seen what kind of team the Angels will be this year but fans can be happy that they have an owner who is committed to their city and team.
