Yesterday the Los Angeles Lakers took a step in the right direction in hiring their new GM. Rob Pelinka has a big task at his hand; attempting to make the Lakers great again. To do so, these three Lakers Rumors should be the avenue Pelinka takes.

The Lakers are currently in a dry-spell that is so unfamiliar with the franchise. They have missed the postseason nearly has many times on their four-year drought than they have the entirety of the franchise. The team always has had a superstar, whether it be Magic, Kobe, or Jerry West. Now they have D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram; they’re suppose to be superstars one day, but not today. This has caused there to be countless of Lakers rumors circling the NBA.

There have been plenty of Lakers rumors circling around on which direction the franchise wants to take. One is that the Lakers will somehow trade up in the draft to get Lonzo Ball, others stating that somehow Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis will join forces down the road in the Staples Center. We’ve heard it all – that Paul George, Jimmy Butler, or Carmelo Anthony will all come to Los Angeles. Yet, despite these rumors circling around the Lakers head, they haven’t pulled the trigger.

Now, with Magic Johnson likely running the team through Pelinka, what direction will this franchise take? They have a solid young core three of Russell, Ingram, and Julius Randle. They could always hold onto these guys in hopes the develop together, or they deal them. There are teams out there likely willing to deal a superstar who might be leaving soon anyways for a young stud they can take their time with.

Julius Randle can leave after next season, D’Angelo Russell the season after that. The Lakers are going to need to make a drastic change in the franchise to keep this core intact. So, these three Lakers Rumors should be the top three moves on Pelinka’s checklist.
