The latest Lakers free agency news looks at whether or not they should trade for Carmelo Anthony.

Making a deal with the Knicks might be the easy part in all of this. After things only seem to get more awkward by the day in the big apple, Los Angeles could become the answer.

Originally, the Clippers had emerged as a potential trade partner earlier in the season. When that didn’t pan out, the Clippers seemed to move on.

While the Lakers didn’t have a great regular season, they made progress. There’s still a lot to like about their young core.

Especially when you consider how they played in the final stretch, winning five of their last six.

Things for Carmelo Anthony in New York isn’t going to get better. The fact that they couldn’t make the playoffs after being dubbed a super team only adds salt to the wound.

Phil Jackson made it clear that Anthony should consider his options away from the Knicks for his own sake. So now him being on the move is just a matter of when.

With that in mind, here’s three reasons why the Lakers should make a move.
