Nerlens Noel has once again become the topic of recent Lakers rumors.

Former Lakers rumors were about why the Lakers should sign Nerlens Noel. What if I told you newer Lakers rumors included why they shouldn’t sign Nerlens Noel.

Of course, there are multiple reasons why they should sign or shouldn’t sign him. However, in this article, I will focus mainly on one reason why they shouldn’t sign him in free agency.

All you Lakers fans are now asking why should they not sign Noel in free agency? The answer I provide you with is because they already have three centers.

Additionally, these centers are all competing for the starting center role. Also, the power forwards on the Lakers are versatile and can play center. The Lakers three true centers are driving competition out of each other making everyone including themselves better.

By the centers improving their teammates game as well as individual game, this will allow for Luke Walton to play them all interchangeably.

Since we are talking about centers, may I remind you Timofey Mozgov won a championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Let us all not forget Luke Walton knows how to win an NBA championship himself as a player and coach.

Now you all are saying well Nerlens Noel is young, athletic, and full of energy. You are not wrong. However, he isn’t the best fit for the Lakers. Noel struggles at the free throw line and shooting the ball as well. Additionally, his defense at times is questionable.

Although his defense is questionable that may be his best quality as well as making all the hustle plays. The all he need is some time to work on his shot. It seems like once he left college he started to struggle in the NBA.

While at the University of Kentucky he was able to do a little bit of everything. Then when he arrived in Philadelphia he had to continue that trend. Long story short he had to run the point guard position as a center.

Lastly, when he arrived to the Mavericks his defense ended up showing up again. Therefore we know he is capable of using different skill sets. He just needs to work on his offense to acquire the skill back.

Hence, why the Lakers shouldn’t draft him because he is so one-dimensional currently. On the other hand, they have multiple centers who are more than one-dimensional.

Lastly, amongst these Lakers rumors is they don’t want to wait for a player to improve their skill back, they want someone who is ready to play with their skill right now. Additionally, Nerlens Noel just doesn’t fit into the Lakers system.

Once again the Lakers don’t need another center, they already have a vast amount as it is. As mouth watering as these Lakers rumors are, we may never see them come to fruition.
