After a promising draft and some key signings, the Chargers 2017-18 season seems special. According to the latest Chargers rumors, what will their record be?

The Los Angeles Chargers will make a splash in their first year in LA. Moving to the second biggest market in the United States may be intimidating for the Chargers, especially considering they could barely fill seats in San Diego. However, packed tightly in the 27,000 person capacity StubHub Center, the Chargers will find immense success.

The Chargers did not accomplish much in San Diego. Since the start of the NFL, the Chargers had only made the postseason thirteen times, adding to five playoff appearances in the AFL. They were fairly bad in the 80’s, went in a drought starting in 1996 that lasted until 2004, and now are within a three-year playoff drought.

This has been a change of pace for the Chargers, as the turn of the millennium has been promising. With Philip Rivers leading the way, the Chargers have almost half of their total playoff appearances (6) since the 2004-05 season.

Guys like LaDanian Tomlinson, Antonio Gates, Vincent Jackson, and Malcolm Floyd were huge in this success. Two of these guys are retired, one left for Tampa Bay, with Gates being the only contributor left. The Chargers are amidst a new wave of talent, which is fitting alongside their move to Los Angeles.

This new wave of talent may not seem ready to take the league by storm, as the team has only won nine games combined in the last two seasons. However, all the pieces are there for the Chargers to have a truly special season.

With that in mind, let’s break down the Chargers 2017-18 season in four game chunks to predict what their ending record may be.
