Kyrie Irving has sparked quite the conversation throughout the NBA, creating Lakers rumors as well. However, these rumors are regarding a different Cavalier.

In case you turned off your television, computer and cell phone yesterday, Kyrie Irving’s true feelings were released to the world sparking quite the controversy. This controversy has led to some hot takes on where Irving’s future really lies, creating a ripple effect that has resulted in the latest Lakers rumors.

Irving’s sentiments we’re clear. I am done playing with LeBron James and I want to be the guy. Whether that’s here or there does not matter. Irving is done playing in the massive shadow of James, and although it is foolish, for whatever reason that is how he feels.

Sure, there is a slim chance that Irving could end up as a Laker and a slightly greater chance that he could fill Chris Paul’s shoes for the Clippers. However, chances are Irving will end up elsewhere whether it be in Miami, New York or Minnesota. What a deal for Irving would take I am not too certain, but what seems entirely certain is that he will be leaving the Cavaliers.

Or… is it?

Many have discussed Irving taking of from Quicken Loans Arena, finding a home elsewhere. A smaller portion of the NBA community has taken a different stride, one that seems more possible. James himself would be the one parting ways with his home town team, not Irving.

For the most part, this makes sense. The Cavaliers have no idea if James is going to stick around after this season. With talks of him going to Los Angeles nobody really knows what is going on in his head. Heck, with David Griffon now out of the GM role, LeBron may be looking to take his talents elsewhere again.

This could prompt the Cleveland Cavaliers to deal James. Granted, he does have a no trade clause, but the King could be willing to waive it if the price is right. James still loves the city of Cleveland, and if he can help himself and help the city, he will likely do it.

More from Lakers Rumors

The Lakers trading for James doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. With the speculation surrounding his eventual arrival, it would be foolish for LA to trade for him. Instead, a young team such as the 76ers, the Timberwolves, heck even the Celtics can make a push for James. Will any of them make that push is yet to be seen.

However, what all of this speculation is signaling is that LeBron James may just end up a Los Angeles Laker. I know, I can hear the Kobe Bryant fans moaning, but the stones are being set as early as July 2017.

Whether LeBron sticks it out in Cleveland or heads elsewhere to dethrone Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors, chances are that next year will be his last in that particular setting.

In comes the Los Angeles Lakers, who will at least have $40 million dollars to play with. If they can part ways with Jordan Clarkson, $50 million. Luol Deng and Clarkson, just about $70 million. That is enough money for James and his superstar buddies, whoever he wants to team up with this go around.

Regardless of what plays out, LeBron James has already been a topic in the latest Lakers rumors and will continue to be tied with LA. These latest comments only added fuel to that fire.
