Thanks to the Clayton Kershaw injury, the Dodgers might be in serious trouble.

Just as things were looking up for the Dodgers, a Clayton Kershaw injury has them bracing for impact. One of the best pitchers in the history of the game, Kershaw is the irreplaceable arm in the lineup.

When it comes to the postseason, it’s only been recently that the star pitcher has overcome his demons. Despite falling to Chicago a year ago in the NLCS, the Dodgers look to be a real threat for a pennant in 2017.

Thanks to a lower back injury, Kershaw will be unable to be on the mound. According to a report from Yahoo on the Clayton Kershaw injury, it will be a while before he’s back in uniform.

Per the report:

"The Dodgers have plenty of depth, but Kershaw is irreplaceable. The 29-year-old was once again on his way to another Cy Young caliber season. Over 141 1/3 innings, Kershaw had a 2.04 ERA. He leads baseball in both categories. He also ranks third with 168 strikeouts."

It’s not going to a fun or easy task for the team, but they don’t have a choice. Lately, they’ve been on a tear and that has to continue. For them to be able to take control of the moment, Kershaw needs to return at full health.

The last thing the Dodgers need is for him to re-aggravate it or injure another part of his body. While this part of the year matters, being healthy in the playoffs is eternally more important.

Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times tweeted a comment from team catcher Austin Barnes on the situation.

Thankfully for the Dodgers, pitching isn’t their only weapon. Offensive production from Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, and Justin Turner have also been major factors in their big wins.

Also, the Dodgers are in the driver’s seat for another NL West title. If that’s not enough to give them momentum in the postseason, then there might be more going on than meets the eye.

Another unsuccessful attempt at a World Series championship could be a serious problem. Not producing with the kind of arm strength and raw talent that they have is really without excuse.

The Clayton Kershaw injury doesn’t help, but it doesn’t give them a reason to stop in their tracks.
