The Los Angeles Clippers are looking to improve the team with Andre Iguodala, however, likely won’t be able to get a deal done for the veteran forward.

The Los Angeles Clippers‘ front office has done a great job at building a roster that is going to contend for the NBA Championship. Not only does the team have two new superstars in Paul George and Kawhi Leonard but also has all of the pieces around them to be very successful.

The team has shooting, defense, ferocious players, the best bench player in the league and a 7-8 man rotation that can keep up with anyone in the league.

It does get a bit thinner once you get out of that 7-8 man rotation, which should be improved on for the regular season, but it still is not a bad outlook. The front office is definitely open to improving the team still and the perfect fit is potentially available in Andre Iguodala.

The Clippers, along with the Houston Rockets, are strongly pursuing a trade for the three-time NBA Champion. Iguodala currently finds himself on the Memphis Grizzlies after being traded from the Golden State Warriors and likely won’t have a massive price tag.

The Grizzlies got assets for taking on Iguodala, which is telling of what the team may ask for the former Finals MVP. Memphis certainly does not want to low-ball but it will be a doable deal, for other teams, that is.

Iguodala would literally be perfect on the Los Angeles Clippers. It would add another experienced bench piece to the team with playoff experience and the ability to come up big when the moment calls for it.

That would give the Clippers two exceptional bench pieces in Iguodala and Lou Williams to turn to in the playoffs. Not to mention that the Clippers could run an all-defensive lineup of Patrick Beverley, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Andre Iguodala and Montrezl Harrell at the closing moments of playoff games.

Those five guys are all great on defense and would be one of the hardest teams to score on that we have ever seen in the NBA Playoffs.

It has to remain a dream, however, as the Clippers just do not have the pieces to trade for Iguodala. They have the one-year contract to throw in with Maurice Harkless to make to work financially, but from there, it doesn’t become worth it for the Clippers.

Most of the pieces that the Clippers could trade are either expiring contracts or recently signed and cannot be traded. There is one real exception to that and it is Jerome Robinson.

The problem is that it would not be worth trading Robinson for one year of Iguodala. If Iguodala was two years younger and had at least two years on his deal then fine, it makes sense.

However, with only one year left on his contract and the already short-term deals with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the Clippers cannot afford to sacrifice a piece like Robinson for Iguodala.

Robinson can be included in a trade for much more if the team does insist on trading him. If not, then he can develop into quite the scorer off the bench for the Clippers.

Next. Please stay away from Dwight Howard. dark

So while the Los Angeles Clippers could trade for Andre Iguodala, it ultimately won’t happen because of the pieces that the team would have to send. So do not get your hopes up.
