The Los Angeles Lakers need a center to replace DeMarcus Cousins and one of the league’s most popular rookies could be a potential option.

The Los Angeles Lakers are short at the center position with DeMarcus Cousins set to miss the entire season with a torn ACL. Right now, the only center on the Lakers roster is JaVale McGee, who is not the kind of player you want to play 30+ minutes per game.

Anthony Davis can also play some center to relieve McGee of some of the stress but the fact still remains that the Lakers need a second center. If McGee were to ever get hurt then the Lakers would be screwed.

Popular names such as Dwight Howard and Joakim Noah have emerged as potential options and both have workouts set with the team. Howard has been the most talked-about name, due to his past with the Lakers as well as his pedigree.

Noah would be a decent option as well but the door is still open for the Lakers to surprise a lot of people and go with someone that might not be on most people’s radar. Because of that possibility, you absolutely should not rule out Tacko Fall coming to Los Angeles.

Fall gained a huge following during March Madness as his lanky seven-foot-six frame made him a nightmare of a matchup. When UCF went toe-to-toe with Zion Williamson and Duke, the spotlight around Fall grew even larger.

Fall still went undrafted as there are legitimate concerns about his talent level and his health with his size in the NBA. However, after a good showing with the Boston Celtics in the Summer League and a ton of fan support, Fall gained a non-guaranteed contract with Boston.

However, Boston’s roster seems to be filling out, which might lead to Fall being released. He can be sent down to the G League but if he is the Los Angeles Lakers would be able to claim him.

If the opportunity presents itself then the Lakers should absolutely jump on it. Sure, the hype around Fall might lead to some disappointment, but he absolutely can be someone to come in for 10 minutes a game and be a difference-maker at the rim on both ends.

The team could still look to bring in Howard or Noah. Bringing in Fall gives them that much-needed third guy in-case one of the other two centers get injured as well as to help spread out the minutes in the regular season.

We are not expecting Fall to be this massive acquisition that makes the team undoubtedly better. However, his size does open new doors for the Lakers to explore and at the very least he can be a shot blocker. At the very most he can score four baskets a game off the bench.

And hey, he is young. Getting him this level of exposure now could eventually turn him into a consistent NBA role player.

dark. Next. Who is going to start at point guard for the Lakers?

Oh, and we almost forgot, LeBron James would be absolutely stoked to have a teammate that is literally named Tacko to celebrate his favorite day of the week, Taco Tuesday. You thought you were going to get through this entire article without that reference, didn’t you?
