Apparently Mrs. Teixeira Calls the Shots
By Joe K
If you were an all-star baseball player, who could play for any major league team, than it is more than likely that you, not your wife or mother, would pick that organization. However, that is not how it works in the Teixeira household. Apparently, Mrs. Leigh Teixeira is the one who decides were her husband, Mark, will be playing baseball. At a press conference today in the Bronx, Teixeira revealed a little about the decision making process in his family:
"“Two weeks before Christmas, I talked to [my wife] Leigh about it again, and we kind of decided that, hey, the Yankees are where we want to be. Cash [Brian Cashman] might want to give Leigh a hug, because when I asked her during the process, ‘Where should I go, where should I go?,’ she’d always say, ‘I just want you to be happy.’ Finally she said, ‘I want you to be a Yankee,’ and it was a done deal.”"
Wow. So if Mrs. Teixeira had told Mark that she wanted him to be an Angel than he’d be playing in Anaheim for the next eight years. Kinda weird. Hopefully, Jake Peavy and Manny Ramirez’s wives want them to be Angels.
