5. The Angels Won’t Make The Playoffs
Is this really a BOLD choice? Maybe not consider the Angels went 78-84 last season. However, the franchise and ownership expects this team, one of the most expensive in baseball, to make the playoffs and compete for championships every season.
As we’ve previously stated, the Angels have one of the most talented lineups in baseball; however, their pitching staff beyond Jered Weaver and C.J. Wilson is questionable. Without a significant upgrade on the staff or miraculous improvements from Richards and the other potential starters I find it hard to believe the Angels can compete with the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers, and that’s just in the AL West. Can the Angels compete with the Rays, Yankees, Tigers, Red Sox or even the Royals and Indians without a top line 3rd and 4th starter? Call me a hater but I just don’t see it in the cards for the 2014 Los Angeles Angels.
