Final stats: one inning pitched, zero hits, zero runs, one strikeout
A deserving All-Star Game starter, Clayton Kershaw instead came in to pitch the second inning as NL manage Mike Matheny went with his own Adam Wainright. Also deserving, we should mention.
Kershaw began by inducing Adam Jones to pop out to third baseman Aramis Ramirez. Josh Donaldson surrendered with a swinging strikeout. Ramirez was called to action a second time in the inning, charging in to make a barehanded play on Salvador Perez’s slow roller.
Kershaw’s night ended with a scoreless inning, something he’s done quite a bit lately.
