There will be a lot of debate about where QB’s rank on this list. The number one player on our list is; however, not up for debate. At all. Marcus Mariota, Oregon’s junior QB, is the best QB in the entire country, along with FSU’s Jameis Winston. Currently odds makers have Mariota at 5/1 to take home the Heisman Trophy. Moreover, the Oregon Ducks are favored to win the Pac-12 North, Pac-12 Conference, and are 7/1 favorites to win the National Championship. The odds makers would not think nearly as highly of Oregon if Mariota had chosen to enter the NFL Draft, where he may have been taken by the Houston Texans with the #1 overall pick.
Instead, Mariota is back to claim his crown as the best QB in the nation and will likely be the top choice of the 2015 NFL Draft. There’s not much more to say about Mariota. If he’s healthy the Ducks should be favorites in every game this season and should be mentioned with Florida State and Alabama as the best team in the nation.
In his two years as QB for the Ducks, Mariota has a completed 66% of his passes for 6,342 yard. He has thrown 63 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. Oh, and have we mentioned that he’s one of the fastest players on the Ducks? Mariota has run for 1,467 yards and 15 touchdowns while averaging better than 7 yards per carry. Yeah, he’s pretty good.
