The Clips have a short history of slow starts after the All-Star break. They’ve lost the last three ‘first game back’ by a combined 48 points. The last two such losses have coincidentally come at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs, who happen to have the pleasure for a third time.

The class of the NBA–and all professional sports leagues–the Spurs will trot out essentially the exact same team that dominated its way to the NBA championship last June. If Los Angeles wants to be taken seriously as a top-five team in the league, it needs to come out of the second half gate fast against the best team in the league and free of trade deadline speculation.
