Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard have never faced each other as former teammates. Bryant was injured last year every time the Rockets took on the Lakers. If you don’t think Kobe has revenge on his mind you clearly haven’t been watching the past 18 years of Kobe’s career.
Dwight will probably be his ambivalent, jovial self, while Kobe will not only be trying to prove a point to Howard, but to the league, the fans, and to himself, that he can rise above his knee and Achilles injuries and return to top form.
It’s opening night, which mean regardless of who the Lakers were playing there was going to be some serious intrigue. However, adding Howard into the mix only fuels the fire.
Kobe has been thinking about this game for around nine months. He’s going to try and put on an epic show. It’s just the way Kobe operates. Move out of his way and let the Mamba strike. Or at least attempt to. That’s all we want.
Oh, and Jeremy Lin gets to play against his former teammates!
