The Return Of Swaggy P

Just to be clear, I am not implying that Nick Young can turn the Lakers’ season around. They are likely doomed with or without him. But what he can do is make the games that much more entertaining to watch. Nick Young quickly became a fan favorite last year due to his obvious love of LA and his fun-loving approach to the game. He was also one of the few guys that could create shots for himself on a regular basis.

While I wouldn’t expect to see much of a drop in Kobe’s usage moving forward, he can’t play the entire game. Swaggy might finally provide the Lakers with a true go-to offensive option once Kobe leaves the floor.

But, even more exciting, is the prospect of finally seeing these two share the floor for an extended period of time. Will Swaggy dig into Kobe’s shot attempts? Will Young serve as a teammate that earns Kobe’s trust, becoming someone he will look for more often than he has the current crop of players? Or will we simply see alternating possession in which each player displays their best dribbling techniques for 20 second before taking a ridiculously difficult jumper to beat the shot clock buzzer?

In any of these scenarios, entertainment value wins.
