3. It Took Marquez Four Tries To K.O. Pacquiao

Pay no attention to the KO Pacquiao received at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez.

Many say once one gets knocked out in the fashion Pacquiao did at the hands of Marquez, one can not recover in the future. Pacquiao has since come out on top with unanimous decisions in his last three fights. In Pacquiao’s last fight vs Chris Algieri, Algieri was knocked down six times proving a true bounce back and recovery from the KO from Marquez.

After 12 grueling rounds, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Manny Pacquiao both raised their arms, believing they had won their their WBA and IBF world featherweight title fight on May 8, 2004, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. But neither man won, as the fight was scored a draw. Joe Carvaretta, AP

In a best of three series Pac-Man beat Marquez two to zero with a draw, receiving the judges draw in their first meeting.

Instead Pac-Man gives a fourth chance to Marquez, giving Marquez the chance to design a game plan and already having the experience against Pac-Man.

Why did Pacquiao give Marquez a fourth shot at him ? By this time Mayweather many say was dodging Pac-Man. In the business category Mayweather always wins.

Mayweather doesn’t even give fighters a second chance to fight him except Jose Luis Castillo in 2002 and his last two fights with Marcos Maidana.

An Argentine fighter in Maidana who realistically never had a chance with Mayweather.  A fighter with a similar but not equal foot style to Pac-Man, not anything like the southpaw style of Pacquiao. This is who Mayweather gave a rematch too?

Remember the first Jose Luis Castillo – Mayweather fight? CompuPunch the service providing punching stats, scored the Castillo vs Mayweather fight in favor of Castillo, instead the judges giving the fight to Mayweather.

Just adding, how about the Oscar de la Hoya vs Mayweather fight? A rematch was signed when Mayweather beat de la Hoya, but what happened? A way to get out of a rematch is to retire. Mayweather retired, no rematch was given.

In the blood, sweat and tears category Mayweather gets a zero, Pac-Man gets the belt.

Giving Marquez a fourth chance proved to be a bad business decision therefore causing a bad match for Pac-Man. Of course Marquez was bound to catch Pacquiao, after throwing a four fight total of 1892 punches at Pacquiao, according to the Boxing Rec website.
