The Angels manager has been in quite the limelight lately with the whole Josh Hamilton saga now coming to a close (at least in Anaheim).
Here’s a look at some of the other big reasons Mike Scioscia’s been the talk of the town:
- Mike Scioscia expressed his disappointment in Hamilton’s comments, and that the Angels did everything they could to support him in whatever way they felt they could in the matter.
- C.J. Cron raised his batting average from .174 to .275 in just 3 games.
- It is not certain if the money the Angels are saving from the Hamilton trade will increase the likelihood of an extension to Huston Street.
- The salary relinquished by Hamilton raised the Halos’ cushion before the luxury tax from about $12 million to about $20 million.
- One could argue that adding a bat might be the more likely scenario if the offense does continue to struggle into the middle of the season. This is a far cry from the club’s needs over the previous three seasons, and from what many thought they would need coming into 2015.
- Weaver has also gone three straight starts without a walk for the first time in his career.
