Ben Bishop has had all the answers for Tampa Bay when it’s mattered the most.
Two huge games (Game 5 & Game 7) in the Eastern Conference Finals against the New York Rangers sealed the opportunity for a memorable ending to 2015 for a team that hasn’t seen anything like this in a long, long time.
Bishop holds a 12-8 record in twenty games played so far, with three shutouts, a .920 save percentage, and a 2.15 goals against average to go along with that.
All he needs now is a Stanley Cup. It’s got a nice ring to it.
Whether it was when his team was down 2-3 in the first series to Detroit, or nearly collapsed against the Montreal Canadiens, or had their fate in front of them on the road in a Game 7 with the Rangers, Bishop has been through it all.
We’re seeing a resiliency in Bishop not matched in recent goalie play since that of Jonathan Quick of the Los Angeles Kings — a goalie that knows a thing or two about winning championships under pressure.
If Bishop can keep his cool as he’s done so well on the road, then they’ll be unstoppable in Chicago’s United Center.
If not, Tampa Bay’s going to have their hands full trying to contain a high-profile offense, even on home ice.
