In 1981, the Dodgers achieved their third title in nearly two decades as well as their second-to-last title as of present day.

It came in the span of six games and featured none other than Tommy Lasorda running the show.

Los Angeles was one round away from another match up against the Oakland A’s, but the Yankees swept them in the ALCS that year.

On the flip side, the Dodgers knocked off both the Houston Astros and Montreal Expos in 3-2 series a piece.

Talk about living on the edge.

This title comes in at No. 8 on our list because it helped pave the way for the 1988 title that was marked earlier.

It gave the Dodgers a blueprint to try and run on brash and occasionally irrational or crazy baseball tactics and it worked out perfectly.

Actually, probably more than perfect.

The Dodgers lost the first two games, going into an ugly 0-2 series hole, before climbing out of the trenches and devastating the Yankees with four straight wins and a title for the ages.

It’s not very often the Yankees, of all teams, are left speechless.

But this Dodger team did it.

And for that, we applaud them.
